Paul Rebeyrolle (1926-2005)

Paul Rebeyrolle (1926-2005) was born in Eymoutiers. He became one of the established major painters in the landscape of the 20th century French Art. His powerful and generous work is a call to freedom, a seditious act against the many faces of injustice, oppression, estrangement of man and his knack for self-blinding. it’s a hymn to the violent beauty of an indomitable nature, too. A truly timeless testimony.

The Espace Paul Rebeyrolle

Designed by architect Olivier Chaslin, the Espace Paul Rebeyrolle was inaugurated in 1995. This unique, vast and bright art center of a thousand square feet houses a permanent fund consisting of more than 80 pieces dating from 1948 up to 2005 figuring amongst the most significant ones in Rebeyrolle’s work. Little by little, the collection grew, and from one year to the next, as the hangs come and go, the Espace exhibits paintings and sculptures of impressive sizes and shapes reflecting all the significance and generosity of the material employed.
Run by the association that furthers its development, the Espace Paul Rebeyrolle welcomes up to 15,000 visitors per year.

Virtual visit

Temporary exhibitions

At least once a year, the Espace Paul Rebeyrolle allocates some of its different rooms to a temporary exhibition, inviting visitors to discover artists who trod a peculiar and meaningful artistic path through the display of pieces privately owned for most of them and therefore scarcely - if ever at all - exposed.
